VIEW FROM THE WHEELHOUSE.

A synopsis. No spoilers....and a rant.

The labyrinth laid before a prospective author seeking representation is a real test of resolve. No one Literary agent will request the same submission package.
It's the first 10 pages of your manuscript, then it's the first three chapters or 50 pages, include it in your cover letter, attach it as a Word doc, synopsis, CV, Biog, Blood type, favourite author's second cousin's shoe size. I'm worn out...
Anyway, here's my synopsis for The Amulet and the Oath.

The village of Elderwood on the Island of Albafae. ERUN FALLESON an apprentice forgemaster works with his beloved grandfather, GRELLAN, learning the skills of a weaponsmith.
He is an orphan but knows little of his past. His grandfather refuses to talk about it.

In the small port of Coveshade a young pirate captain, KARRYSS QUINN, has a world of problems to deal with. She wears an enchanted amulet belonging to an ancient undead tyrant, SAALUUR AHD KAILLE, who’s evil spirit is trapped within. KARRYSS is sworn to consume the souls of her vanquished foes in order to feed the blood lust of the spirit slowly possessing her. She must also retrieve the tyrants bones from the sea bed, but they are guarded by an immense creature which must be slain before she can consider how to retrieve the remains.

Back in Elderwood, a tragic accident results in Erun being accused of murder and going on the run. He is pursued relentlessly as a fugitive by Elderwood’s egotistical High Warden FARNUS PRELLOW.
KARRYSS had noticed a wanted poster in Coveshade with ERUN as the subject, and was astonished to see the features of a Stormborn warrior staring back at her. The very people blessed with the abilities to help her stop SAALUUR from destroying their entire world.
ERUN of course has no inkling that he is the key to the survival of Ethratu and when he meets KARRYSS he is merely asking for safe passage.
She has other ideas and press gangs him into joining her crew.
To her dismay she finds that ERUN is unaware of who he actually is and where he comes from so she embarks on a mission to educate and nurture the dormant hero within the young man.
For only if he, a Stormshadow by birth, can wield the mysterious Darkblades, crafted by the hands of his kin, will the cataclysm be averted.

The quest is this.

SAALUUR must be allowed to fully resurrect in the city that bears his name and just as he reaches the apex of his replenishing power, ERUN must slay him with a Stormshadow Darkblade to send him back to the nightmare realm he came from.
And so, with a full crew aboard, The Scarlet Mare sets sail for The Palace City of Kaille with the entire planet’s future resting on their success.
