The journey has started...

First of all, thank you for visiting my website.

This is all very new to an old codger like me so please don't expect too much razzle dazzle. I just want to create a space where my attempts at crafting a four book fantasy adventure series can be documented and hopefully generate some interest.

Book One, The Amulet and the Oath, is available as eBook on Amazon but it is also in paperback and hardback for those of us who like the aesthetic value of actual page turning.

Writing a book was something that I never really considered before. I have always enjoyed the more creative aspects of life, having been a live performer in many bands over the years, so expressing myself artistically was always comfortable for me.

I've written songs, short stories, painted a few pictures, even built a patio in my back garden but The Amulet and The Oath was just a story writing exercise to keep my idle mind occupied while I was on long term sick leave. It just kept growing and pulling me along until in July of last year I had a finished manuscript.

Then came my first schoolboy error. I published it. Without any proper proofread, or formatting. Thinking it was good enough to unleash on the worlds largest book retailer. It wasn't. It really really wasn't.

Despite some kind feedback from friends and family and the occasional encouraging words from social media strangers, it was a dogs dinner of an effort. A decent enough story. But almost unreadable.

So I gave it to a very talented editor in Georgia USA,  Kaytie Bishop lead editor of Escapist Editing -  and she reshaped it and battered my ego with a huge continuity stick. The manuscript came back to me in January this year and after some appeals for beta readers via social media I have a book that I am very proud of.

I hope to add updates in relation to the progress of book two, The Bringer of Silence,  and even some selected extracts to gauge how it might be received.

Any aspiring writers out there who want a professional eye to go over your work, here is Kaytie's company web address - www.escapistediting.com

Anyway, enjoy your wee browse around my page. Hope to hear from you soon!

Author Biography.

Aaron grew up in Edinburgh with a lot of time on his hands as an only child. His parents were both keen readers and his father was also a fine wildlife artist. Aaron’s passion for writing took hold at three, when he taught his imaginary friend to scratch his name on his father’s vinyl LP’s.

He started writing creatively, in the early years of primary school and his first short story, Thelon and the Baby Deer, was printed in the school magazine. A touching tale about a giant who only wanted to be friends with the animals in the forest where he lived. He has never written anything as long as a novel before and was so enraptured by the experience he’s decided to turn the idea into a series.

The desire to become a full time writer remains strong, but meantime Aaron has pretended to be a normal adult by holding down jobs that included Police Officer, Aquarium guide, Lorry Driver, and Puppeteer.

Aaron, his wife and children (most of whom are actually adults) enjoy spending time with their two cats and watching Netflix.

Only Aaron enjoys drumming, watching Dunfermline Athletic FC and playing golf.
